The original plan had been to visit The Chandos, which is not, strictly speaking, on Trafalgar Square. However, we learned of the existence of a rather posh-looking Scottish-Themed bar right on the Square, so decided to give it a try. It had been contended by some that
(a) we wouldn't be allowed into such an upmarket establishment, and
(b) we shouldn't try to get in, as it's a restaurant and decidedly not a pub or bar.
We shouldn't have worried. Although the decor, cocktail menu, prices and facilities were, indeed, upmarket, there were far scruffier urchins than us within. This was a pricey round. (£34.75)
At this point, James raced back to Charing Cross Station in order to ferry the Llewellyn Baggage Train to Covent Garden.
The rest of the group sat outside watching the Square.

We saw an amphibious tour bus(!), a man wearing a live python(!!) and a mad American woman who said she wanted to hear our accents but ran away before we could respond.

A walk from the posh toilets to street-level.
