"Brown Square!"

We arrived at The Lord Nelson at just gone 1030 and took advantage of the waiting time by taking some photos of the pub and ourselves next to the "Old Kent Road" sign opposite.

We loitered for about fifteen minutes, during which one or two characters slipped quietly from the pub being careful to pull the door closed after them.

"Where's our £200 then?"

At 1045, we became aware that a member of pub staff was beckoning to us from a second as-yet unnoticed door (on Trafalgar Avenue). We entered, and our MBPC got officially underway.

Interestingly, the pub was already half-full with customers who could not, in all honesty, claim to be on their first pint.

The staff were friendly. (I, for one, had been led to believe that we might get some frosty receptions.) They wished us well in our mission, and gave Gareth "Bootilicious" Rees a Lord Nelson diary!

The pub itself was flamboyantly decorated inside. I will insert some comments from Gareth on this subject here, when he furnishes me with some...

Sarah began as she meant to go on, by "dealing" the drinks cards onto the bar top.

We were at the bus stop waiting to go on to Whitechapel before the pubs had officially opened.

Greg "Tug" Withnail: "A cracking start."
Gareth "Bootilicious" Rees: "Nice decor."
Kenny "Dirty Dawg" Cramer: "Shady."
Sarah "Jalopy" McDonald: "Language barrier with otherwise helpful barman didn't help our timings."
